Partner Fred Rivera focuses his practice on civil litigation and internal and government investigations. He is the co-chair of the Financial Services Litigation & Investigations practice, and a member of the firm's Consumer Protection and Investigation & White Collar Defense practice groups. In his litigation practice, Fred represents corporate clients in litigation and government enforcement matters concerning consumer protection claims, consumer lending compliance, financial products sales practices, mortgage fraud, fair housing and fair lending claims, and ADA compliance. Mr. Rivera also represents public and corporate clients in class action cases and commercial disputes involving complex construction projects, business disputes, and employment claims. From 1993 to 1998, Fred was a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and more recently (2006 - 2008) the head of investigations at Fannie Mae. He is the co-author of a chapter on predatory lending laws and regulations in Why the Poor Pay More: How to Stop Predatory Lending (Greenwood Press, 2004).
Gina Ori is an associate in the firm's Litigation practice, where she focuses her practice on commercial litigation, white-collar defense, and internal investigations. She is also a member of the Government Relations practice of the Political Law Department at Perkins Coie.
Gina has assisted in the representation of clients in a variety of white-collar criminal investigations and prosecutions, including proceedings before the Securities Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Her cases have included allegations of securities fraud, insider trading, tax-related fraud, money laundering, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations and government contract fraud.
Veronica McGregor focuses her practice on payment systems, financial services, mobile banking, mobile payments and m-commerce, stored value systems, consumer lending, privacy, online business, anti-money laundering compliance, ATM and debit networks, and software and technology licensing. Veronica has represented clients in a variety of financial services-related matters including banks, payment system providers, wireless carriers, gaming developers, virtual property trading platforms, online and physical retailers, social networking companies, online service providers and software application developers. Additionally, she has significant experience in consumer lending law and regulation including the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act and other state and federal laws and regulations.
